Leave Module Feature Announcement!

This week, MetricAid launched its newest feature in scheduling and human resource management - the Leave Module. 


Amanda McGivern, Software Developer, led this project and shares the following: 

Over the last year, we’ve inventoried our clients’ needs and we hope this new feature will help users manage, plan for and report on requested time off.


The great thing is that you no longer have to wait for preferences to open before you ask for time off and you can ask for time off at multiple sites simultaneously!  Our goal was to make sure that users can easily ask for leave time and admins can easily track requests and plan accordingly.

Requests can be processed with or without permissions, based on the department rules.  We’ve also added a comment field to each stage of the request so the user can add a note and the admin can respond, or leave their own note, ensuring clear lines of communication and a record to refer to in the future.   

Leave requests are integrated throughout the application.  Whether you’re entering preferences or viewing the live schedule, it’s clear which days are booked off, and there are plenty of customization options to meet your site’s requirements.


The biggest takeaway from the launch of this new feature is the time saved both by users entering their requests, and by admin reviewing, approving, and tracking time away.


We want to leave you with a list of key features found in the Leave Module:

  • Users can request time off for multiple sites at once, independent of scheduling-periods

  • Requests can be approved or denied by users with appropriate permission

  • Administrators can create categories for different types of leave requests with separate rules, deadlines and limits

  • Comments can be added directly to requests

  • Email notifications can be set up for every action in the approval process

  • Robust reporting for both users and admin to track requests and approvals

  • Approved requests can be viewed in preferences, builder, and on the live schedule
